Alisha Ngoni ist noch ein Teenager, als sie mit ihrem Baby ganz allein von Tansania nach Deutschland zu ihrem deutschen Mann fliegt, in den sie sich in ihrer Heimat verliebt hatte und in dem sie ihren Prinzen sieht. Mit ihm eine eigene Familie gründen, endlich Liebe und Anerkennung erfahren dürfen, viele Kinder groß ziehen – das ist ihr größter Wunsch. Denn hinter ihr liegt ein Leben, das geprägt ist von Missbrauch und der Gefühlskälte der eigenen Mutter. Doch die ungleiche Liebe mit ihrem älteren Mann vermag ihre verletzte Seele nicht zu heilen. Der Start in ein neues Leben, eine neue Kultur ist beschwerlich, und das junge Mädchen droht daran zu zerbrechen. Nur die Liebe zu ihren Kindern gibt Alisha die Kraft, sich von den dunklen Schatten zu befreien – und so erobert sie sich Stück für Stück das, wovon sie immer geträumt hat: Ihr Glück in einer neuen Heimat.

Ombeni Ngonyani, born at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, came to Germany in 1984 and has
lived since then in Northern Germany. She is the mother of six.

Alisha Ngoni is still a teenager when she and her baby come to Germany by plane, all on
their own, to join her German husband with whom she has fallen in love in her native country and in whom she sees her future "prince charming".
Her most sacred wish is to start a family with him and to finally experience unqualified love and respect. She leaves behind a life characterized by abuse and the coldness of her mother. But the uneven love to her elder husband is not capable of healing her traumatized soul.
The start into a new life and a new culture is troublesome and the young girl is about to be crushed by the seemingly unsurmountable difficulties she is faced with. It is only the love to her children that gives Alisha the strength to break free and overcome the dark shadows of her past. Bit by bit, she regains what she has come to Germany for and what she has always dreamt about: finding happiness and fulfillment in her newly-adopted home country.
