By: Author Renee’ Drummond-...Dreamer’s Dream Dreams<br />By: Author Renee’ Drummond-Brown<br /><br /><br />I started out<br />a princess,<br />expecting <br />to grow into a Queen,<br />at least,<br />that’s what<br />I was led to believe.<br /><br />Went to school<br />trusting on <br />A King’s dream<br />pushed into <br />a back of a room<br />so<br />my princess dreamt<br />thereof; <br />poetic scenes.<br /><br /><br />Not ‘payin’ attention<br />‘cause’ <br />those inner words <br />protected me<br />from THAT plight<br />‘an’<br />In my mind<br />I could be THAT Queen!<br />Yeah<br />Hail to me!<br /><br />But…<br />in reality,<br />A black princess<br />in the 60’s<br />could never ever be<br />Queen.<br />Absolutely,<br />NO hail, <br />to the queen,<br />Only lost <br />poetic dreams<br />in a systematic scheme<br />of <br />Dick, Jane and Spot<br />playing <br />royal games.<br /><br /><br />While on THAT scene, <br />I dreamt <br />of becoming <br />someday <br />MY VERY OWN <br />POETIC QUEEN<br />Yeah,<br /> finally,<br /> Hail to me!<br /><br />Dedicated to: I use to be a Queen you know…now I’m a Poetess<br /><br /><br />Authored:<br />“The Power of the Pen”<br />“SOLD: TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER”<br />“Renee’s Poems with Wings are Words in Flight-I’ll Write Our Wrongs”<br />and<br />“Renee’s Poems with Wings are Words in Flight”.<br /><br /><br />No part of this poem may be reproduced, stored in a retrieval system, or transmitted by any means without written permission from the author.
